Per “A History of Plain, Wisconsin” by Hildegarde Thering, from right to left: Beck & Weiss store, 1892. The central part was built by Alois Hutter in 1883. The Mike Schwartz saloon was built in 1898. The Joe Volk, Sr., saloon was taken over by Joseph Stautner in 1890. This building was replaced by the Plain State Bank in 1912. The Mike Paulus blacksmith shop was built in 1901 and sold to Fred Schreiner in 1918.
